What are MatchPub coins?
Coins are MatchPub’s in-app currency. Once your free matches are used, matching uses coins, and some other paid features in the app use them too. You buy them in the wallet, they sit in your balance until you spend them, and they only work inside MatchPub; they have no cash value outside it.
Coins aren’t a complicated token system. Think of coins the way you’d think of tokens at an arcade: you load some up, you use them, and the wallet tells you how many are left.
Nothing about using coins changes how a match works or who you’re paired with; the other person sees the same screen either way. The person on the other side doesn’t see your balance, and a match you start with coins looks exactly like one you started for free. The only difference is where the match came from in your wallet, and only you can see that.
When do you start using coins?
After your free matches. Every new account starts with some, a reward adds more when one appears, and only once they’re used does matching draw on coins. Until then you don’t need to buy anything, add a card or make any decision about paying.
That order matters: you get to try MatchPub properly before spending. The full picture of where free ends is on its own page.
Where can you see your balance?
In the wallet. It shows how many coins you have, the packs you can buy, and the price of each before you pay. Purchases are handled by the payment provider shown at checkout, and once a purchase goes through, the coins appear in your balance.
If a purchase doesn’t show up, or something about a charge looks wrong, write to support with the time and amount; the contact page explains what to include.
What does VIP add?
VIP is a monthly membership you can take or leave. Some features on MatchPub open up once your account reaches a certain level or when you’re a VIP member, and the VIP offer in the app lists what’s included before you subscribe. You don’t need VIP to start matching.
Whether it’s worth it depends on how often you use MatchPub. If you’re on most evenings, read what the current offer includes and decide. If you drop in now and then, coins on their own are usually enough, and you can look at the VIP offer again later.
Either way, nothing is decided for you. VIP only starts if you choose it yourself, and you can read what the current offer includes before you do. You can keep using MatchPub on free matches, rewards and coins without ever subscribing.
Do free rewards still show up once you’ve bought coins?
Yes, rewards keep appearing now and then as you use MatchPub, whether or not you’ve bought coins. Claim them when they appear. They aren’t on a schedule you can plan around, so treat them as a bonus on top of your balance rather than something to count on.
How to spend coins wisely
The best way to make coins last is to waste fewer matches. A few habits help:
Pick the mode that fits the moment. If you can’t talk out loud, start on Text instead of a video match you’ll end after ten seconds.
Follow the people you click with. Finding someone again through their profile beats hoping a random match brings them back.
Say hi first and give it half a minute. Many matches that look flat in the first five seconds turn out fine.
Use the online list when you want someone specific, such as a person who speaks your language, instead of matching repeatedly until chance gets there.
The how MatchPub works page shows where follows, messages and the online list fit together. If you’re setting up a camera for the first time, the 1 on 1 cam check takes two minutes and saves a few awkward starts. The MatchPub home page covers the rest.
